Managing Agents

The Agents page lists every agent in the current environment, with its status and a 30-day summary of how it has performed. It is the starting point for building a new agent, picking up a draft, and opening an agent to review its sessions or change its settings.

Before You Start

Opening the Agents Page

  1. Open Agentic in the Admin app.
  2. Check the environment selected in the sidebar.
  3. Select Agents.

Grid and List Views

Two buttons at the right of the toolbar switch between views. The page remembers the view, so a refresh or a shared link opens in the same one.

  • Card grid shows one card per agent, with a New agent tile first.
  • Table shows one row per agent, with a New agent button in the toolbar. The table is sorted by Updated, newest first, and any column can be sorted by selecting its header.

The table has these columns:

ColumnWhat it shows
AgentThe name, the agent type, and its phone number or tool count
StatusThe agent's status. See Agent Statuses
SessionsCalls or runs in the last 30 days
ScoreThe average session score out of 10
TokensThe language model usage behind those sessions
UpdatedWhen the agent was last changed
Comparing Frontline and Background agents

A session, a score and a token count mean different things for the two types. A Frontline score grades a phone call, and a Background score grades a run. When sorting a mixed list by Score, filter to one type first so like is compared with like.

Searching Agents

Type in Search agents to narrow the list. The search matches an agent's name, its description and its phone number, so a Frontline agent can be found by part of the number callers dial. The agent ID is not searched.

Filtering Agents

Select the filter button beside the search box to open Filter Agents. Each option shows how many agents it would match, taking the search and the other filter into account.

  • Type: All, Frontline or Background.
  • Status:
    • All
    • Active: agents that have been published at least once
    • Draft: agents that have never been published
    • No Phone Number: published Frontline agents that no phone number rings. This option only appears when at least one agent matches it, or while it is selected.

The filter button shows how many filters are applied. Clear Filters resets both.

No Phone Number is the quickest way to find a Frontline agent that is published but cannot be reached by dialling. It includes agents whose number was moved to another agent. See Phone Numbers and Deployment.

What an Agent Card Shows

Each card describes one agent at a glance:

  • Name and status. A coloured dot beside the name shows the status, and hovering over it shows the label. A draft shows a Draft badge instead. A card whose number is not answering also says Not answering under the name.
  • The line under the name. For a Frontline agent, the phone number callers dial, or No phone number with an Add Number link. For a Background agent, how many tools it has. For a draft, how it was started: Built with IQ or Set up manually.
  • Description. The agent's description, or "No description yet."
  • 30-day summary. Calls 30d or Runs 30d, the Avg score, and a Trend line of sessions per day. These figures describe the live agent only, so a draft shows each one as a dash.
  • Footer. The on/off switch, labelled Taking calls or Not taking calls for a Frontline agent and Enabled or Disabled for a Background agent, and how long ago the agent was updated. A draft shows a Continue button in place of the switch.

A switched-off agent's card is greyed out. A card whose deployment failed is marked in red.

Opening an Agent

Selecting a card or a row opens the agent:

  • A published agent opens on its agent page, on the Metrics tab. The page also has Sessions, Playground and Quick Config tabs. See Testing and Monitoring and Quick Config.
  • A draft built with IQ reopens in the builder, at the step it was left on.
  • A draft set up manually reopens in the full editor.

The Agent Actions Menu

The menu on each card and row offers shortcuts. A published agent has:

  • Quick Config, Sessions, Metrics and Playground, each opening that tab of the agent page
  • Retry deployment, when a phone number could not be pointed at the agent
  • Delete

In the table, the menu also has the on/off action, since rows have no switch: Stop taking calls or Start taking calls for a Frontline agent, and Disable agent or Enable agent for a Background agent.

A draft has Open in editor, when it was built with IQ, and Delete.

Creating an Agent

Select the New agent tile in the grid, or the New agent button in the table. The builder opens, and the type is chosen above its text box: Answer calls for a Frontline agent or Work in the background for a Background agent. See Building with IQ, or to fill in every field yourself, The Agent Editor.

Empty States

  • No agents yet. An environment with no agents shows "What should your first agent do?" with one card per type: Frontline agent ("Answers inbound calls on its own number") and Background agent ("Runs behind the scenes on text and data"). Selecting a card opens the builder for that type. Configure manually below the cards opens a blank editor instead.
  • No matches. When a search or filter matches nothing, the page shows "No agents match this search or filter". If the other status would match, a button offers it, such as Show drafts or Show active agents.
  • Unable to load agents. The list could not be loaded. Select Retry.
